Top tips for the "Dim Sum / Chicken adobo" fare:
  • At more than 5 weeks after most of us booked this fare it looks increasingly likely that the fare will stick. However prudence is still advisable and we should all avoid contacting the booking agent and if essential to contact try to deal with the airline direct.
  • Check that your original itenary is intact and ticketed as PAL revised their LHR flight schedule in early September and there appear to now only be 5 flights a week now rather than daily. Use TripCase to do this - see post #114 on how to do this (thanks to @MyFlights App). If you have incurred an involuntary change you can contact PAL and they will permit one change to amend your itenary. They appear to be flexible to shift flights to adjacent days, but if you try to push to be rerouted on another carrier to maintain the original itenary times you might find your flights are cancelled and you end up with a refund.
  • Online seat assignments are not possible on PAL when booked through a 3rd party, you have to call up, it is best to call PAL on 0808 164 9888 rather than the booking agent.
  • Whilst it looks like the fare is going to stick be aware that making other travel arrangements around this booking are at your own risk so consider making bookings that are refundable or covered by insurance if needed.
In hopes that this will go ahead, here's a wiki to see who's going and when.

Earns the same for EY, NH and PR - 19k?

EY have no redemptions of any distance under 100k.
For ANA, can get return from EU-JPN for 85k.
Don't know anything about PR.

EY also lets you cash miles out, which is what I'm going to do. Should be about £96 I think. Not typically the best use of miles but EY is my dumping ground for miles I can't otherwise make good use of. Last time I earned some was almost 2 years ago, so they're close to expiry and I don't expect to be able to add them together to get any useful flights.

Thanks, Etihad PointsPay looks like the best route for me. Another £100 ish discount on an already cheap fare. Can't complain at that.

Also both ANA and Etihad miles can be topped up from US Amex Membership Rewards. European MR can be used to top up Etihad accounts.

Anyway, hotels in Manilla are hardly going to break the bank are they?
I have 200GBP insurance on my credit card so it's not problem

Hi folks I just returned from flying LHR-MNL-HKG route and posted a trip report here:

I'm about to take this flight tomorrow.
PR sent me an email inviting me to check-in online. However, after I click the link, their website says "We have found your reservation, but there is a problem with your ticket. Please see a check-in agent at the airport." Also got the same message if I go directly to the website and try to check-in using both PNRs and the ticket#.
Anyone seen anything similar before?

I have seen that with other airlines before, wouldn’t be too worried.

As it turned out, the "problem" is that I called the airline directly to move my return flight to a different date after their initial schedule change, and today they thought I wasn't aware of this change. After confirming that I'm aware of and ok with the return flight time, they checked me in with no other issue. They did say I should call the OTA and tell them to "change the ticket", and I'm not entirely sure why.

Now I'm waiting in the lounge (Aspire Club) waiting for boarding. You can order a special Filipino dish at the bar, which is a chicken porridge. Tasted good to me so I recommend.

That's the arroz caldo, I thought it was excellent.

Has anyone credited their flights to EY and, if so, have an idea of how long they took to post?

I have a couple of flights I'd like to book using the EY miles quite soon. It seems from the Etihad Guest site that there's some 'technical difficulties' causing delays in PR flights posting to EY but not timeframes mentioned. So I'd appreciate any first hand experience!

Does anyone have advice for someone who got rebooked into a connection of 20 minutes in MNL?

I got this a while back for a March-April r/t. My outbound flights are:
PR721 arr. MNL 1840
PR310 dep MNL 1900 (originally 1945 and still showing 1945 on lastminute.com)

PR agents have told me to contact my travel agent and lastminute.com has been unable to change it (yes, I know calling the OTA is bad). The ticket was already reissued once because of the Sept. reduction in LHR-MNL frequency.
