I don't think that's possible since it would be separate tickets, even if it was the same airline. You're most likely going to arrive in a different terminal than your departure so you'll have to clear security at LAX anyways.

Airlines have allowed this in the past - not sure how many do today. Here's an example:

Generally, though, I think the airlines had to be in the same global alliance for this to work, and since Hong Kong isn't in an alliance, I'd think it can't work.

DL/UA/AS have baggage agreements with HX, from what I have found so far.

Thank you, I will try to confirm this with HX agent tomorrow before buying any connection tickets.

HX used the generic LAX International Lounge at TBIT when I flew the other day. Was quite crowded and not really worth too long of a visit.

For anyone who hasn't been in TBIT recently, it's pretty nice. In many cases (I'm looking at you, KE lounge) I find the regular terminal restaurants and public areas to be better than the lounges.

i booked through Expedia when the fare was available. I just checked the itinerary again on Expedia today and noticed they've changed the cabin to Coach, although still showing fareclass J.

Anybody else has similar situations?

I booked on Priceline and it is still showing business class.

Also, priceline does have the fare rules listed, idk if they are the same as what they originally were when booked.

Priceline just sent me a schedule change. (Not sure what is was - seems close to what I booked.) All flights still show business class.

Anyone know if you can go standby for an earlier flight? We have 5+ hour layover in HKG, but there are earlier connecting flights. Would prefer to land at our destination at midnight rather than 2 or 3am

Did you pick seats yet? And did you check the reservation on the HX website?

Emirates lounge, also used by Virgin Australia, is also amazing
