I booked YVR-HND-KUL a few months ago, it was not this mistake fare but I paid about $2k for the ticket via Amex Travel. I just noticed the aircraft for not one but both legs has been downgraded to this subpar cradle seat.

I called NH and they refuse to budge saying the fare bucket is nonrefundable and they cannot reroute me because I didn't book direct, they insisted I would need to call Amex and talk to them.

Is there any point in me calling Amex (can they really do anything?), or would I be crazy to file a DOT complaint over this? Curious what some others here would do...

I feel there should be some lenience in this given what a serious downgrade this is on not one but both legs. Would really like to avoid spending 17 hours in this seat if possible.

Thanks for any advice!

You definitely need to call the TA.

No one else can do anything.

Guess I won't get to enjoy the barcaloungers this time around. I had to cancel very last minute and return home to deal with a personal matter. I had actually positioned to YVR last night, but had to cancel everything literally just before checking in to the UA flight to SFO and come back to YYC first thing this morning. Hope everyone else enjoys their trip!

For those that had to layover in SEA before continuing the journey to TYO, which lounges are good?

I do have an AMEX Plat but I heard/read that the Centurion is not that great in terms of food choices and vacant seats?

I also have a PP.

Centurion is probably your best bet, they recently expanded the entire lounge in terms of space but the food is still lacking a bit. Alaska Boardroom would be the next option, but they deny PP holders based on capacity, and being a hub the SEA lounges are often full.

Interesting. I was getting my information from ANA directly:

"All flights operating on B787-9, A320neo aircraft and certain flights operated by a B787-8 (with 240 seats) aircraft."

I had checked and I thought the B787-8 from YVR-HND was the 240-seat configuration, but I guess it's one of the ones that does not have WiFi.

CANCELLATIONS

CHARGE CAD 500.00 FOR CANCEL/NO-SHOW/REFUND.
WAIVED FOR SCHEDULE CHANGE.
I called ANA to cancel my reservation that had a small schedule change. They refused a full refund since the schedule change was so small. I got hit with the $500CAD cancel penalty.

I've escalated to customer care since according to the fare rules and CoC, a schedule change is a schedule change... I'll keep you posted.

Do they at least serve Hibiki 17?
That might be enough to help me endure this crappy seat.

airport land transfers

There was a brief discussion about land transfer: [FARE GONE] Ana yvr - syd $559 rt

My itinerary

Outbound
NRT 1540 - HND 2200

Inbound
HND 0505 - NRT 1700

Think gonna take the limo bus for the outbound since I only have 6h20m.

But for inbound, since I have time, someone suggested I take the train and stop at Shimbashi and roam around. Not sure what's there to do that early in the morning lol. I looked at this:

http://www.keisei.co.jp/keisei/tetud...r/us/index.php

So seems like I can hop off and hop on the ACCESS EXPRESS train?

Has anyone stop somewhere during your land transfer?

And also, can I be in TYO without any JPY on hand and just use CC? Or should I have at least some JPY just in case?

No dice so far. I'm holding off on pushing too hard until I fly my 2nd reservation in 2 weeks. I suspect, contractually at least, they really don't have a reason not to issue the refund in full.

Just noticed we are actually on the same flight from YVR-HND!

Come say hi, I'm in 1D (probably the least offensive seat on that configuration)

Having flown this aircraft, would you recommend bulkhead aisle to a normal window? (I am in 4K right now and usually prefer window to aisle)
