Just to clarify...
I was able to change the pre-selected seats on AF for one ticket.
For the other ticket, for which no seats were pre-assigned, I can now at least get the AF website to pull up the seatmaps, and to allow me to select seats (in strangely-empty business class cabins). However, the seats I select don't "stick" so I still have no seats for this second ticket....
I don't know why one ticket came with pre-selected seats on AF while the other didn't. But the pre-selection seems to have helped....at least these I can change, and the change remains.

My itinerary is ALL on AZ (this coming Sunday) and all entirely unflawed so far (same for the Mrs). However, in light of the above, I'm glad I got rid of a few air-miles (we're currently booked on the 17:55 service to FRA, both myself & the second half - just in case the return flight on AZ gets cancelled). Whether I'm going to get to EZE in the first instance, though, je ne sais pas I'd be really annoyed in case as this would have been one of my very few leisure flights after countless work trips this year... Ah well, fingers crossed...

It's changes from a FLR-FCO-NRT, NRT-HKG-DUS leaving on the 30th, to a FLR-FCO-DUS leaving on the 31st.
Opodo are unable to get through to AZ so will call me back within 24hrs.

Oh that is vile from them. Why doing this instead of not just cancelling which would result in much less hassle for everyone!

Tried selecting seats on klm.com for the Air France flights that wouldn't go through.
Somehow, playing around with this booking on the AF website had resulted in me being kicked out of the best possible WBC seat on a subsequent KLM flight. Yikes!
KLM.com also baulked at the prospect of assigning seats on AF. And I had to go back to AF to re-assign the KLM seat that it had robbed me of previously.
So, back where I started on that one

I half hope that the above are prank posts...
...if true it would set a precedent for an airline, which has issued a multi-city itinerary, to amend an itinerary to the most direct STARTING AIRPORT -> FINAL AIRPORT route. Makes a mockery of the multi-city booking system and destroys trust in the process.
I'd rather they just flat out cancel the tickets (which I'd have no issue with given the premise of this ticket) than unilaterally decide to issue a new routing of their whim.

So far it seems to be only itineraries involving CX that are being cancelled.

1. They provide transportation as booked in the first place (from their interpretation)
2. They offer you an even better connection (more direct, perhaps even nonstop)
3. They leave it to the customer to cancel with the OTA
4. All trouble is with the OTA.
5. OTA can not ask AZ to cover the booking fees
6. OTA might keep booking fee from customer
7. Customer could try to get the money back from CC issuer

At a stretch, I could try and get AZ to perhaps let me do FLR-FCO-NRT-FCO-DUS, but don't have much hope for that...
