First Timer
I have never done a mileage run before. However, Ive been following this forum for a little while watching deals and reading posts.
I am about to try to book my first run. Does anyone have advice on things I should look for or avoid?
I am doing the platinum challenge and need to get 10,000 points on AA by June 4th. I fly out of DFW. I can fly for multiple days any day of the week.

Try both google flights and ita matrix (you can specify AA, and OneWorld in both the sites). I am not sure about your budget, but if you can afford, go for the premium cabins as they are running a 2/3 times EQM promos through end of the year. Not sure if it's valid for EQPs? I believe it's a 1.5xEQP earnings on premium cabins, and you reach your destination in pretty decent comfort. If you are flexible with the airports, try searching for IAH, DAL (not sure if AA/US flies there?) in addition to DFW.
Probably someone with more AA experience can provide you with something more valuable.
Try to walk around in the planes, and drink PLENTY OF WATER!! AVOID ALCOHOL while flying!
Welcome to the world of ELITE STATUSES, my friend! It's pretty addictive!
And, welcome to FT!

The AA promo now is for EQP's not EQMs. If you could give some information about your budget etc, we could help more. Also, subscribe to The Flight Deal so you will be aware of all the best fares out there. Not sure if the cheap business class fares to Europe are still around, but that would get you to your goal is comfort.

I'm in the same boat as OP, in Dallas and jumped over to AA from Southwest. No status match of course so am doing a challenge for Platinum. I should make it on scheduled travel, but I'm have a MR in the mix just for fun and some mileage padding.
AA is flying a 787 between DFW and ORD for during the month of May training their crew on the brand new plane. I booked a weekend trip up and back in the Business cabin. 1.5x EQP, and I'll get to fly for my first time on 787 in premium seats for less than $600.
