How to skip the final segment?
Hi,
I found a good ticket for only 180€ but with a slightly weird itinerary:
BUD-DOH
DOH-BUD-ZAG
So depart from BUD and get back to ZAG. I would prefer if the ticket was ZAG-DOH-ZAG but when I try this (or even BUD-DOH-BUD) the ticket is at least 200€ more expensive on the same dates.
It seams that this ticket sort of FDs itself
My question is:
Can I ask the clerk at DOH to check me (and my baggage) only to BUD and just skip the last BUD-ZAG part?
What would you suggest?

this is known as "hidden city routing". Generally, the check in agents will not let you only check a bag to your middle destination, so if you want to do this it's carry-on only. Some agents may bend the rules, but it's usually against policy to do so unless changing airlines, etc.

How much time is your connection? If its a long one over a few hours you may tell agent that you need to retrieve some liquid medication at BUD and you will recheck in for the ZAG flight yourself at BUD. If the connection is less than 2 hours, it is not going to be feasibly possible. So choose your flight properly or better still, choose a next day connection of less than 24 hours.
Otherwise you'd have to buy a oneway ticket back to BUD.

thanks guys...
so if I just use carry-on luggage and the agent checks me in for the entire flight and I don't go to the last BUD-ZAG segment, I won't get in trouble?
Just asking since I'll be checked in and all...

Correct, you’ll be fine. Don’t talk to the airline or to anyone else, just take your stuff and leave.

Exactly - don't say anything to the airline about what you're doing, just leave the aircraft at BUD and then leave the airport.
Do NOT check luggage in, because your chances of easily, or cheaply, being able to get your luggage back at BUD when travelling on a ticket that should take you to ZAG are almost zero.

Bear in mind it's the same plane that does DOH-BUD-ZAG. When I flew QR SOF-BUH-DOH in a similar fashion last year, they were careful to check those alighting at BUH were actually supposed to. Everyone else had to stay on board.

ZAG is actually closer to me, so I might just find some other way to get to BUD.
I don't know but I feel I found a really cheap deal with 180€ for a RT ticket
