To Keep both 1K and EXP

I have been a UA 1K for years and matched for AA EXP this year.

Now I am 12K short of UA 1K this year. Since AA gives me the 55K challenge to keep EXP, I am now at 30K so short of 25K AA miles to re-qualify.

I have three trips by the end of the year... BCN, NUE, YUL. So I assume I can easily requalify 1K by taking J on one of my trans-atlantic trip. 8K plus 50% bonus is 12K EQMs.

My question is AA EXP... how to make 25K EQMs from JFK-YUL and one trans-atlantic trip... or do I need to do a MR on AA?

Next year I have three trips to South America, so keeping EXP might be worthwhile.

Thanks.

Without finding a great routing & pricing from East Coast-West Coast-Europe, probably not going to make 25K EQMs from JFK-YUL and one trans-atlantic trip on AA. You're going to need to look at doing an MR, probably a transcon.

JFK-YUL-JFK: 1000
JFK-LAX-LHR-PRG (Just as an example): 17164

So, you're still about 7k short. Even doing JFK-LAX-SFO-LAX-JFK would only get 5950 miles.

So, probably two MRs for ya.

Or you could hope for a year end 2X or 3X EQM promo as happened last Dec and this Jan. That was sweet!

You may be able to make it if you travel to Europe via Asia.

"hope" being the operative word. I'd be very surprised if AA did this again this year
