Segment run (YVR to LAX)

Segment run (YVR to LAX)
Hoping some of you FT geniuses can help me out 
I have a trip from YVR to LA coming up in October (19th) and I would like to maximize my segments, as I might make AC SE on segments this year.
It looks like I can go through SFO on UA which will add a segment and the O/W journey would be $198 (the stop adds $3 and an hour on the ground). Does anyone know of any other routings that I could book that wouldn't add too much cost but would add a couple of additional segments?
