Hi Jay - did you find anything? I'm from Detroit as well and will probably be doing a few runs this year. If you find anything decent, would you mind sharing? I'll do the same for you.

I'm curious about this too, but being in Kalamazoo right now, I always have the option between driving to DTW or ORD, so it makes it hard to stick with one (ORD seems to be cheaper whenever and to wherever I need to fly though).

I feel your pain fellas. Was DTW based and grew up in the Zoo.
You'll pretty much never find a decent MR in DTW because it's a hub for DL and competitors would preferentially be in ORD vs DTW, so competition will probably never increase and drive prices down. You have to leave the state to make it worthwhile.
I recommend the Amex Delta Reserve card and convincing your employer to reimburse you vs pay for your expenses. Works for me.

Oh, I agree you can get plenty of flights down to the 4-5cpm range (a quick peek at the farecompare.com can show that).
I'm saying we'll never see the 2cpm/3cpm stuff that occurs regularly in ORD and JFK...
To me, 4cpm/5cpm is not a "deal" level of cost.

It's tough to find 2 or 3 cpm deals other than DBL EQM promos (hi, AA). I'll stand by my claim that DTW is not nearly as bad as some are asserting.
