Segment Run Strategy
I've never qualified for status by segments before and this year I need 4 more segments. Any advice on how to figure out the cheapest and quickest way to get 4 segments on UA/CO or US? I'd like to do it all in one Saturday or Sunday (Dec 3, 4, 17, or 18). DCA is easiest for me but I can do IAD or BWI too. I've done mileage runs before but never segment runs. Thanks for your help in advance!

the 3rd & 4th may be too close....10 mins checking the usual suspects didn't show any thing....17th dca-tpa is ~ $310....not too bad for this late in the game....good luck...

4 segments is really simple - it's just a roundtrip with a connection each way. A quick search on ITA matrix says one of your better bets is US... from BWI to Buffalo, December 17, via Philadelphia. Same day turnaround... leave at 11am, get back to BWI at 9:43 pm. $160.80 all in.

LOL - not really. I have a list of hundreds of airport codes and I just copy and paste. But for this one, I used the Kayak "Explore" tool, and did a search for December 2011 fares <$200 out of WAS and BWI. It brings up a bunch of prices on a map, then I just manually poked around for a cheap one that said "one-stop" instead of non-stop.
