A Challenge for the AA Challenge

Looking to do the AA challenge for E. Plat. I need 10K EQP, so obviously class of fare matters.

This will be my 1st MR. I am looking to do this all in one go and would like to combine it with the mileage offers bonus for STL, RDU, etc.

Looking for feedback, or even MRs ^ I could book which will get me this elite status. Wanting to take a run in Sept/Oct/Nov over a weekend or even a Thurs-Fri run could work too. Obviously, there is the RDU/STL-NRT run but that is a bit of a jaunt in coach.

Anyone to help?

There is a SFO-MGA I class fare that I think would get you the required POints for the challenge. It's posted in the MR forums. If you fly it before the end of the month and route through JFK each way you can also get a bonus 25k RDM on the TRNSN promotion. I don't know how well that works out compared to trips out of RDU with their 2xEQM and 3xRDM. You could do RDU-JFK-SFO, do the SFO-MGA RT, and then back SFO-JFK-RDU. I think it'd take a total of 4 days but I could be off on that.

Thanks for the advice. I looked at that and there is no way I can make it through in Aug. Pricing went up for that route from what I could find after Labour day too.

BTW - I am based out of MSP. So, I will be getting a positioning flight as well which will add some mileage too.

OP,

I'd like to mention a few things that you're probably aware of, but they bear mentioning given the original post.

First, there is no challenge for Exec Plat, just for Gold or Plat. Based on your post, it seems like you're doing the 10K EQP for Platinum status.

Second, since these challenges are based on points and not miles, most of the AA promotions (e.g., double EQM / triple RDM from STL, RDU, PIT, and BNA) will not give you additional EQP for challenge completion. Having said that, you can obviously take advantage of these promotions to build up your EQM / RDM balances while completing the challenge.

Hope that helps.

One more thing, you might get more detailed responses on the AA forum. There's a thread there (URL below) dedicated to challenge info and questions.

Right, I am going for Platinum. You are correct in that the bonus miles do not count. Though, I would like to receive them if it works out for a MR. I have been finding it hard to find a good MR which will give me in excess of 10K EQP due to the fare classes I am getting on the routes I have been researching.

JAA....it might be cheaper [and get more mi's] to do something like 2 stl-fra rt's on a 3-4 day stretch....

also, how many eqm's do you expect to get this year w/o mr's?....if its over 10k , then you might get the rest w/the double on cheaper fares using the $240 fee toward the fare....

good luck....

Fly MSP-ORD.
ORD-DEL in anything but the bottom fares. That gets you Gold
DEL-ORD the next day or after 24 hours. You are PLAT
If you can, ask a friend to upgrade you to C each way with a VIP.
