Q class, 14 day advance, 1 day min
The base fare is a little high for MR, but considering booking class & allowable routings, this is "buy" in my opinion.

Booking Class - Q is much better than O, which is getting common lately
for the deeply discounted fare, when you want to create complicated routing.
Routing - more favorable than "via DFW/ORD" only

I figured availability was the answer - but I wasn't sure if I was missing some other factor or not. Both Tclin and keithguy are right - Q availability is generally better on AA than O - especially on AS-metal codeshares.
That said, the routing rules for this fare are as follows:
Given availability, it appears that one's best bets are SFO-SEA-DFW-IND or SFO-LAX-SEA-ORD-IND. It also appears that NW has matched this fare (in K class), with the following routing:

Unless you fly a lot of expensive fares or are going for a challenge, q-points are meaningless.

This might be attractive:
(1) To those who need to fly to ORD but don't want to pay the going rate (currently $300+ for the AA & UA nonstops from the SF bay area), and
(2) For those who could use a rental car to drive around Chicagoland and don't mind a longer drive to the airport.
Would be great if AA would do a fare-match with CO's current SJC-ORD fare, but that's probably too much to ask.
