The base fare for this was $20, considering a normal Premium Economy fare is over $1000 I'd say it was a pretty darn good deal...
As it being "not highly different"... I'll just take that as a joke. the difference between $100 and $249 seems pretty clear to me, certainly if you are travelling with a family.

Montreal, whenever you see a $249 taxes/fees included mileage earning return fare, North America to Europe, please post it immediately on FT. The only one close that I'm aware of this year has been NW's brief sale to three selected destinations.

So, the kindnest thing we can do for BA is lose weight between now and liftoff. I'll commit to five pounds.

The way the fare basis came up, "TLXSALE8", me thinks this was an intentional event on BA's part. If most of the people who grabbed the fare are frequent travellers, and 15% of the 1,000 book a future regular fare on BA, they probably have no trouble covering their fixed costs of 1,000 tickets. </font>

They screwed up some data entry.
In total, there were 462 fares out there at $20 in 231 markets.
These fares are usually around $1000.

Re: US-Europe fares close to $100.
I booked a NW EWR-LGW $169 fare for 1/8/03-1/15/03. $270.90 after taxes.
Re: The $19.20 cost of gas per passenger.
I've heard this type of calculation before, the $0.30-0.50/passenger was told to me by a CO pilot that I sat with on a LAX-IAH run.
He said 20,000 pounds lighter only saved him 200 gallons. Said some of the newer planes are very efficient with gas.
So it may depend on which plane is flown.
