NW ATL-SFO $132 + taxes ($157) - no stayover

Valid any day of the week; same day returns allowed.

Cheapest I've seen on this route in a long, long time. No one has matched (and I doubt they will).

Not bad, mk!

With on-line purchase bonus [500], on-line check-in bonus [1,000], credit card used for purchase [157] and 5,162 status miles......

$0.023 per mile

Looks like ticket must be purchased by 8-4-02.

Unfortunately, unable to determine how far out this fare sale extends.

Please excuse the multiple posts.

This fare books out at least through the end of February. Looking at the red-eye out of SFO with connection in DTW and MEM. The return is ATL-DTW-SFO. Total travel time is just short of twenty (20) hours.

5,892 status miles, 500 miles for on-line booking, 1,000 miles for on-line check-in and
314 miles for credit card purchase with AMEX card [$157 X 2] = 7,706 or $0.02 per mile.

Looks like a nice way to start the new year for those interested in obtaining NW Silver Elite.....like me!

Cheers!

SFO(redeye)-MEM-EWR-MSP-ATL

8086 status miles + whatever bonuses you can get, $158.50. About 31 hours, no hotel required (or possible, for that matter). Makes a pretty decent start to qualifying for 2003.

Nice of them to stick that little EWR backtracking possibility in there. I was going to try ATL-IAH-EWR-SFO and back on CO metal, but the NW/CO codeshare rules prohibit non-stops to the operating carrier's hub on the ticketing carrier's fare for domestic routes.

P.S. Expedia Fare Calendar shows it'll book out until 7/1/03.

Outstanding effort, Andrew! I am presently attempting to replicate this run from the Left Coast. Thanks for the heads-up!

Happy Trails!

***No luck. Routings work, but fare
comes out to $480.00 at NWA's site.

For someone that doesn't have miles on NW (or flys on it much)... would getting status be "worth it"?

In addition, is there any reason why you would want to fly this in 2003 instead of 2002?

Just curious.. and very interested !!

I'm flying this in 2003 since I already qualified for Silver in 2002, and don't really stand a chance of making Gold.

As for whether or not it's worth it, status is only worthwhile if you use it. Flying here, there, and everywhere to rack up 25,000 miles and then not flying again after you do is a waste of time and money. If you think you'll fly a good bit over the next year after you get elite, then I think it's worth it, especially on NW, where you can upgrade domestically from any fare. Even if you don't get the upgrades, bulkhead seats (with more legroom that F seats) are worth the effort, IMHO.
