one of the worst transfer experiences ever. Flew HKG-XMN-SGN with a 5:45 hrs layover in XMN. If you transer, you have to enter the country, no transfer airside possible. In HKG they also only handed out 1 boarding pass (HKG-XMN). After entering CN, we had to go to the regular check in desks, although the luggage was checked through. Highlight about all that is, that you cannot get you boarding pass earlier than 2 hrs before departure, means you get stuck somewhere between customs and check in desks before check in desks hands out your onward ticket, so that you can pass security and immigration again. Went much smoother in PEK or CAN. If the layover is longer, maybe a hotel stay would make sense, as you have to enter the country at all.

Painful overnight transit

Totally not worth the hassle, especially if one has to enter China just to check back in to get the boarding pass to Europe.

actually u are eligible to go to the transit lounge at Xiamen landside while waiting. it's not really a premium lounge but mostly empty (when i was there) and have basic nuts/bread and drinks.
If your flight is the only flight available that day and require a overnight transit, you can email the CS from MF for a transit hotel (heard that's just 2-3star though but breakfast included)

Great fare to go back to Europe (never mind any issues with the China stopover; many countries are allowed to do that visa free under the Chinese stopover program) but since this is placed in the mileague run thread - at least for Flying Blue this does not work, since this low fare class is not eligible for XP nor miles.

What's the fare code? MF has a lot of cheap flights that get nothing with DL as well. I ain't buying the fare if I get nothing!
