CM - JFK-PTY-CNF - $460 Roundtrip - 1064 PQP

Copa - New York - JFK to Belo Horizonte, Brazil (CNF) via Panama City (PTY) - $460 roundtrip in economy. Availability is best in June 2023.

Copa will let you fly down to CNF and then the next day fly back to NY, avoiding a hotel stay, but the flight arrives at CNF at 12:22 AM and departs at 1:25AM, so you basically have an hour to get back to the gate. Not sure how difficult that will be.

Code:
From-To | Class | Miles Flown | Earn % | Redeemable | PQP
JFK-PTY | A | 2,200 | 50% | 1,100 | 220
PTY-CNF | A | 3,116 | 50% | 1,558 | 312
CNF-PTY | A | 3,116 | 50% | 1,558 | 312
PTY-JFK | A | 2,200 | 50% | 1,100 | 220

PQP - 1064 (Cost per PQP - 43.163 cents)
Miles Flown - 10,632
Award Miles Earned - 5,316

Thank you! While I wish this was the case, I think your calculation is off, unfortunately. You are right that Copa is a preferred partner, but you divide the mileage earned by 5 instead of 6 to get PQP.

This books into the A fare class, which earns 50% mileage. Total mileage flown is 10632. You'll earn 50% award miles, so 10632*.5 = 5316. You then divide 5316 by 5 - 5316/5 = 1064 PQP.

Ugh. My bad. I always seem to forget it's based off of the award miles and not the flight miles. You are correct. 1,064 it is. Which still isn't bad for a $460 airfare.
