UA: HPN-SMF $268+ai RT (G fare; 5,590 w/ 500 min; 4.8 cpm)

HPN-ORD-SMF-SFO-ORD-HPN

books in G fare bucket. Only avail I could find is 2/2/14 with a same day turn.

I know. 4.8 cpm is not that great and I'm a neophyte to MRs so please be gentle.

But my experience is that HPN is usually more expensive so I figured that a decent cpm from there might be worth posting.

Also, it's so much cheaper than any other day that alone seemed to make it noteworthy.

Runs from HPN are basically non-existent. Good find!

this is actually a fare basis of HPN-SMF, not HPN-SFO, so if you search on that you will find more availability (eg, all of the first week of December, and DL has it too). this knowledge will also help those in SFO who are trying (probably unsuccessfully) to find this fare in reverse

it comes and goes at this price and actually goes as low as 268 at times, it's a fairly "consistently" available fare, much like SMF/SJC-LGA

used to fly this fare quite often with Mrs. ddrost1 living outside HPN, fortunately now she is here with me

Wow. You're right. Tons of availability. Ex. 11/4-11/5 on DL HPN-ATL-LAX-SMF-LAX-DTW-HPN approx 6k miles for $275.

yes it is pretty widely available until EOS. every couple weeks they post it and pull it, it's a good MR fare for those in CT and Hudson Valley. it would be better if HPN was still served from IAD, since SMF-IAD-HPN earned about 2900 miles one way.

i might suggest the mods retitle this thread as UA/DL:HPN-SMF rather than HPN-SFO, for accuracy's sake.

HPN isn't the easiest airport to fly in/out.

Several years ago, Northwest had $225 R/T transcons. Lots of people booked mileage runs; but they didn't do the research. They flew in on the last flight, and/or flew out on the first. HPN couldn't be any more difficult to negotiate after 11:00pm or 6:00am. Limited hotels, no taxi cabs (just expensive car service), and no public transportation at those hours.

If anyone is arriving and departing on a turn, no issues.
FYI, you have to exit security at HPN before going back to your gate.

Without a designated driver, that doesn't sound even remotely like a good idea!

Me and thousands of others do it. Tasting at wineries over four/five hours will not make a person intoxicated.
