Just a note: the Amtrak portions do not earn PQM's.

Is that a recent change? I got PQMs for the Amtrak segment on my last ZFV trip, but it's been a couple of years.

Not sure how recent it is, but ZFV-EWR segments only receive 250 RDM with no elite bonuses.

You should call to get the 250 RDM per ZFV segment if you care.

For $217 on various dates in Sept and many in Nov/Dec it looks like you can get a return via IAH. But it's 1712, the "direct" EWR-IAH-PDX. That'd be about 3.8 cpm (pqm) if you can convince an agent to split the last segment off onto another PNR. (Anyone had luck doing that lately?)

wrt/PDX and SAN.

A month ago, I actually booked an open jaw SAN-ZFV-PDX with these two fares since I need to go SAN-PDX. A little out of the way, but 4000 more miles for $100 more :-).

FWIW on the way down I am going PDX-CLT-SAN. Same thing :-)

ZFV-SFO-SAN-SFO-ZFV for 3.755cpm

Take an extra stop @SFO both ways, you will get 6130 PQM for $230.20. Good travel.
