! wow... is that their "going rate" or a "good deal if you can find it" rate?

I fly this route infrequently; my father flies to India (BLR/DEL) all the time in J on Air India. The miles he earns there are basically useless so if the price is comparable I'm going to tell him to switch to CO.

Wow +1.

Never seen it that low - must be off-season in mid-Feb - I'm getting $3694.00 all-in!

(Beware of change fees of $400.00 for reprice only - difference of fare would apply also)

EY ex Milan/Oz

Some cheap fares showing in J - not sure if this is a sale or not.

Have just booked MXP-BKK for Feb 2012 and MEL-MXP for 21st Dec 2012 - peak Xmas period - all up, GBP 1,900.

Straight MXP-MEL return is GBP 2,245 with 100 Eur change fee. Books into W.

Hope this helps...

TK has ORD-DEL for $3319 with 1 stop in IST, sample dates 3/7 to 3/14, appears to be on Vayama only as other sites has it over $3700. Definitely the lowest I've seen for this route in a long time. AI is over $4700 so it's definitely worth the stop in IST to save $1400 AND collect Star Alliance miles!

Agreed, I was looking for late Nov/early Dec and the lowest published Z fare on CO was about $5,500, but only valid mid-week, 14 day minimum stay and very limited Z inventory available. The D fare was $6,500 and even that was limited on our travel days. The C fare was $8k+ and yet they still seemed able to fill up the plane.

Air India was $4,800 r/t with lots of availability. But we managed to get an AA fare on BA out EY back for $5k. OS was a little cheaper but no flat bed and long layover in VIE on the return (and apparently only one shower in the lounge...)

AI may not have the full partner crediting options that it would have if it made it into *A last year, but they still have a partnership with LH. all J fares appear to be 200% RDM in Miles & More. Hardly worthless, just not useful for status. Also have a partnership with SQ.

It is indeed but where are you finding that fare? The Emirates South African website has the following table putting the business class return fares to South America at ZAR20424 which is about the same €1904 as JNB-GRU.

Have to include promo code AESKW12 (Skywards members) that was mentioned earlier and seems to fetch it down to above amounts.

Thanks to previous advice in this thread, I just booked my 1st CMB fare this weekend on EK. I thought it was a very good value. CMB-SIN-DXB-LHR-SEA. All F with 2 seqments in suites and one of those on the 380. Total price was $2.450.
Combined with the strategic use of BA miles (YVR-HKG-CMB on CX) I ended up with a nifty RTW in F (HKG-CMB J) for 115,000 avios and $2,800.

Thats why I read FT!

Just wondering going from CMB to SEA, are you allowed to stop anywhere for over 24 hours without the fare skyrocketing?

It's the AA fare I posted last year. Yes, you can stopover anywhere where AA does not publish an onwards F fare to the destination. I gave a great example of usage last year. Find my post through my profile. And the price would have been far better starting with AA miles. Amateurs.

Not everyone has AA miles, Colin. But quite a few NA users have 100,000 BA miles (without ever even having flown).

So it could well have been far better than using AA miles. ;-)
