Booked 1x DFW/LAX and 1x DFW/SFO, probably snag another DFW/LAX also.

These have gone fast ... used the 55H1BG promotion to book an itinerary on the 8th $110 ai - wide open seat map ... just tried to add my daughter to the same itinerary, and it's now $455 to get her on the same flight, or anywhere near the same arrival time as us.

It's still a reasonable MR to get the challenge completed. It's not the best deal around, but consider it's a normal $99USD one way, that's an amazing deal. This is basically the same as $99 one-way but you got DEQM.

However, for another deal for LIR, one would still go for that because it's not as restrictive(Oct only for DFW-SFO/LAX), and it's even better in terms of CEQM.

I presume these book into deep discount fare so SFO-DFW @ 1464 miles per segment one would need 7 segments in order to complete a Gold challenge and 14 for Plat. That's still not cheap

Gold for 18 months for $140 (fee) + $420 = $560
Plat for 18 months for $240 + $820 = $1060

Alas I don't fly AA much anymore and my Alaska and Qantas flights don't count towards the challenge. But maybe tempting as a mileage run for others particularly those who can use the status

Turns out it's actually $99 roundtrip. It's not a one way fare I could have used

Nobody, not even VX, has matched this fare, so AA is probably backtracking (and filling its planes with loss-making customers).

I am sure AA's intent is to bleed/bankrupt VX, especially after their "you deserve better than your stodgy old airline" ads in the metroplex, but VX is not biting.

(Actually, for the puny discount, you might be better off booking at one of the third-party sites and getting their points, perhaps with a airfare/hotel package.)

You can also try 73H1BX; 10% but it is embargoed 13-19 October.
Thanks. Will try!

Noobie Question

Would this be possible? Just wondering if this would be a bad idea.

Itin 1
DFW-LAX-DFW
Oct 8 arriving at DFW 1:50PM (AA2424)

Itin 2
DFW-SFO-DFW
Same day dept. at 2:35PM (AA1381)

Also, aa.com is not letting me book two DFW-LAX in a same day, do I call? use another engine? Thank you very much.

DFW is huge. Two of the last three days, these flights were in different terminals. In that case, you almost certainly would not make it.

Ah I suppose you are right. Thank you for your reply.
Little bit too late to jump onto the party. At least I got one flight.

The trick is to book it with out your Advantage number then after purchase go back and add it to the reservation.

The good/bad idea is a judgement call. If Itin 1 is too late getting back to DFW for you to make Itin 2 you will be out of luck.
