There is Rastrelli's up in North end that as you might guess serves mostly Italian fare; it's been there for long time and is good. Tehre is a steakhouse across the river in Fulton and I'll try to get u info on it. There really are not many wow! restaurants in Clinton area as it is a small town and because of it's proximity to the Quad-cities more of the better restaurants are located down there. If you had more time, and I supect you are primarily there for the graduation, you could go down there or even up the river to Galena which has not only a good selection but an visually interesting town to see.

I don't have any suggestions for a dinner but if you have any lunches, I'd try one of two regional items that are served in this neck of the U.S.
Maid Rite - serves "loose-meat" sandiches, think sloppy joes. They are good and the retro factor is high.
Clinton Maid-Rite
2328 Valley West Court
Clinton, IA 52732
I'd also partake of a pork tenderloin sandwich, most are pounded thin, breaded then fried, about twice as large as the bun they are served on. I believe Indiana claims that they invented the pork tenderloin sandwich but I've had many many delicious ones in Iowa, some places like the I-80 truckstop even do a grilled version. Sorry I don't have specific place to suggest but they are on almost every menu.
If you have an hour, you can drive due west on Route 30 out of Clinton to Mt Vernon Iowa where the Lincoln Cafe is, nice looking "upscale" menu: http://www.foodisimportant.com/

[QUOTE=rustyr;11690713] There is a steakhouse across the river in Fulton and I'll try to get u info on it. Well I found out that place was closed up! Ther is another place up near Rastrelli's called Mckinley St Taverne; it's in an older building but is fixed up nice inside. While I have never eaten there, I asked several people yesterday while I was in Clinton and they said it was good. their address is 2301 McKinley; closed on Mondays. Also down on Camanche Ave (also known as US 30) is Vitale Joes pizza that brags about it's deep-dish pizza- 1134 Camanche. Along what Sweet Willie told you, there is a Culver's on the West end of town that is what I would call "fast-casual"- yes you can order hamburgers there- and they are called butterburgers-and are pretty good; they also have other items on the menu that puts it above your average fast-food restaraunt. Their frozen yogurt treats are yummy! I suppose I should mention the Applebee's as it is well-run but I didn't think you wanted to go to a chain . And the North bridge going over the Mississippi is closed for 2 weeks starting yesterday May 4. So the South bridge (US 30) will have back-ups due to increasede traffic.

hopefully some one will be along.
