Wow, that new runway looks like it's a long way from the terminals. I guess a 15-minute taxi is better than waiting in line 30 minutes to take off.

I landed on the new runway yesterday evening on the way back from YUL. The taxi was kind of long, but not as long as when you get the "tour de O'Hare" routing all the way around the field.

I don't know what the wind conditions were, but it seemed like our pilot didn't line up quite right for the runway - there was a small sidestep when we were around decision height.

It was an odd thing today, driving down the Edens and seeing planes 3 abreast for landing.

Wonder what they were using for takeoffs.

Probably 32L starting at T10. That's the usual when runway 28 (formerly 27L) is taking landings. In theory, 22L could also be used (at reduced capacity) when 28 is in use.

Yeah, you are probably right. Could be a little scary if anyone landing on either of the 27's has to go around...

What, nobody here has had the pleasure of the Polderbaan at AMS? Only 11km from the terminal.

Any reports from ORD? Are things seem to be moving any faster or is everything still not quite ready to go? How much time is this addition expected to save the average flight -- anything??

They've always timed the 32L takeoffs with the 27L landings, so what's another one to time with

They also definitely use 22L (for most S/SEbound traffic) when using 27s/28 to land. Just have to time the takeoffs between the 28 landings, but they've been doing that part for years.

Landed on the new runway last week on AA. It took us 30 minutes from wheels down to gate. I had a deadhead pilot sitting next to me and he said it is always a minimum of 15 minutes, usually more. I found it interesting that I live 9.5 miles from ORD and on this trip from wheels down to my front door was 1.5 hours, versus my trip on SWA the week before at MDW which wheels down to front door was 45 minutes.

Off topic, but does your FT ID mean you got married at Disney?

Cool.

I've landed on the new runway twice, and that sounds about right. At a very fast taxi speed, it was 15+ minutes each time.
