Organic in Chicago
Whole Foods is a nice store, but it's borderline unethical when it comes to pricing IMHO.
I'd like to compile a thread w/ local stores that offer organic foods, more of the "mom & pop" type stores.
I'll start:
Fruits & Veggies: Stanley's on North & Elston.

I *HATE* Whole Foods. Not for the anything the company does but becasue of the discourteous and self-absorbed patrons that tend to shop there and clog the parking lot with their Subarus and LR3s. We hit Strack and Van Til or peapod.

Hey, even WFM's CEO gets defensive about their pricing. Try the Slow Food Guide to Chicago, available at your local (independent?) bookstore.

and third realistate prices in many large cities are through the roof. Whole Foods in the last year opened up shop in a mixed use condo here in downtown Seattle. It's at the base of the building on the corner $$$. Not too mention that the condo's in the building were going I think near $1 million or so

s/b Real Estate??
If you want their complete financial picture, get Whole Foods' (WFMI) filings. If you don't know how to get them, you probably would not understand the contents.
