vacation ideas
Looking for a nice resort within 8 hours drive of SE Michigan or 1.5 hour flight. Any ideas on places that:
1. Will be quiet and peaceful (e.g., not many kinds)
2. Provide a good place to relax
3. Have nice pools, fitness and great dining
4. Have all inclusive packages?
Thanks!

Sounds like an urban location is not what you are looking for?
The American Club in Kohler Wisconsin http://www.destinationkohler.com/
not many kids either.
I love the Traverse City Michigan area and there are certainly some nice resorts there and good dining. go when the kiddies are in school and you'll be fine from the rug rats. good lodge website for Michigan here: http://www.resortsandlodges.com/lodg...gan/index.html
Perhaps the finger lake region in western NY? http://www.resortsandlodges.com/lodg...ger-lakes.html
What is the logic behind 1.5 hr flight v 8 hrs in a car ?

Here's a thread that might help you:

I suggested Canoe Bay Resort & sounds like it fits your parameters. Not sure about all-inclusive - that usually means the opposite of great dining, so if you want both #3 & #4 on your list, it might be a problem. They do include CB & for dinner there is a prix fixe menu that sounds delicious.

The American Club in Kohler as suggested by Sweet Willie is spot-on for your criteria. Lodging and dining are great, and they offer packages. You could take the car ferry from Luddington, MI area to Manitowoc, WI, too. That may not save much time but it looks like a neat change of pace.
Another suggestion would be the Grand Hotel at Mackinack Island, MI.

Thanks for all of your help. I had tried the Kohler American Club but they have very limited availability. I will check out the Canoe Bay Resort. I also found Langdon Hall in Ontario which seems to be exactly what I am looking for: few kids, nice resort, 5 diamond resturant. Anyone been here before: www.langdonhall.ca?
