I am sure most of the locals are aware of this already, but the City Council has decided to ban the serving of foie gras in the city's restaurants because the production was deemed inhumane. What's next a ban on beef, foul, pork, and veal? What is even more embarrassing is the new potential of places like Wheeling, Naperville, and Schaumburg becoming meccas of fine dinning

I'm sure Mayor Daley (the senior departed one of 1968 fame) is a'rolling in his crypt at the swinish level to which the local council persons have allowed themselves to descend. Mrs. O'Leary's famous cow obviously was a more positve contributor to local improvements than any of the current Council-nebbishes, "brats" without the "wurst", "furters" without "frank"ness, "kiel" with no "base" on which to stand.

TMOliver, I read your name as "TMO Liver" given the context
Note that the ban is on sale, not possession, so I suppose that sly restauranteurs could still "give it away" as an amuse-bouche. Not that CPD even knows how to enforce half the laws on the books, anyways; I still see plenty of drivers talking on phones.

I don't like it anyways, but, as the Chicago mayor basically said, there are bigger things that should be on the agenda but are not.

There is a pretty lively discussion of this subject in Omni too.
