Place to buy computer components

For reasons far too convoluted to explain, I need to buy an external USB disk case for a 2.5" hard drive in Chicago, and I need to get it tomorrow...

I'm at the W Lakeshore - any suggestions for nearby places I might try? I don't have a car, so somewhere in the city and accessible by bus/train would be good.

Wish I wasn't up against a bunch of job deadlines, I'd drive downtown and give you a ride to a store; love to chat about AZ with you.

It's difficult; the stores in your area are typical office/retail places like office max and office depot; they'd have external disk drives, but not the drive cases. CDW closed their downtown location last year.

Call the Chicago Cyber Exchange, (312) 337-4882, address 455 W North Ave- just a few miles from you. They might have one.

Otherwise, the Microcenter, 2645 Elston Avenue (773) 292-1700 is probably a 12 to 15 minute cab ride.

Thanks for the advice! Fortunately, the putatively dead laptop that this was required for data rescue from re-animated for long enough for that data to be retrieved - so the immediate need has passed.

you can pick up a memory stick in any office supply store to do a quick backup.

Enjoy your stay in our fair city!
