Planning to join a Gym - any recommendations ?

Hi All,

As above, was wondering if anyone had any recommendations regarding a gym. I would prefer a slightly more upscale place,i.e. happy to pay a little more but want to make sure it offers a lot.

Right now I like the East Bank Club the best from what I have seen so far,but it is a bit harder for me to get to. Ideal location would be Lakeview/Lincoln Park area..

Thanks
JohnG

if the lincoln park athletic club is anything like the evanston branch, it's a great gym - I'd definitely check it out if I were looking for a gym in the LP area.

Spend one day on the roof top deck at East Bank in the summer and convenience won't matter

That said, I dropped my membership several years ago when I moved to Lakeview and my office in the loop moved to the suburbs.

I can't speak to where you should go since I have great access to my gym at work and don't need anything else, but I have heard from several friends who have left the EBC for other places. The general consensus was that it was a great place to strut and be seen but not so great for a serious workout.

When I lived in Chicago, I was a member of Multiplex/Fitness Formula. Loved it!
