I think I'm going to check it out this week with my mother. I haven't been to the taste in a few years.
I would recommend that anyone that wants to go to the taste avoid it on July 3rd. On year I went to the fireworks and my friend and I decided to check out the Taste beforehand. There were so many people there that it was an unplesant experience. I recall having to carry my food above my head or cradle it against my chest as people were elbow to elbow.
This year I'm planning on visiting during the day time on Wednesday or Thursday. I figure this should be one of times when it is least crowded as people have to work.

One of these days though, I may celebrate early
I really do want to visit this, even though I tend to avoid overly crowded events.

I would not make any special arrangements to see this, I am a little confused as to what the big attraction is. A lot of the food available is the usual fast food junk you can get anywhere and the crowds can be massive....
Not to mention that 3 people were shot in an altercation leaving the event a few nights ago.
Large crowds, heat, and alcohol can be quite the nasty combination.

As for the shooting, I'm not worried. I'm not going to let some bad people deter me from going to Grant Park. There are police everywhere. The newspaper article about the shooting said that a police officer was half a block away when that shooting happened and responded immediately.
