Question What to do in Grand Rapids

I'll be there in a couple of weeks and am looking for ideas on evening entertainment. Will be staying at the Amway Grand if that makes a difference. Would appreciate any ideas. Thanks!

It's been years, but the Amway hotel itself had great entertainment. If you have the time, Steelcase Corp had completely and impeccably restored the Frank Lloyd Wright home built for I believe Meyer May - if you're a Wright fan, and I am, this is an extremely excellent example of his work.

I haven't been there (in the evening) in years, although I went to college in Holland. Normally when I'm there visiting friends/family. Other 'day' thing to do is the new Meijer Gardens/Museum. There's a bunch of other cultural things, etc. I'll try to email some friends & see if they can recommend evening stuff - but it would help if you'd give age group & what type of evening things, etc....

A short walk from the Amway @ 20 Monroe - restaurants, nightclub, comedy club, microbrewery.....

It will be a varied group, and my guess would be that average age is in the 30's. So I'm not really looking for nightclub ideas or anything like that. The gardens sound nice, as does the Frank Lloyd Wright example someone mentioned earlier. Our group will be attending a conference during the day so I guess it's important to mention that the entertainment options need to have extended evening hours. Thanks again for the ideas!

I haven't been to the Gardens, but have heard it's nice. If you have a weekend free and a car, head north to Traverse City - lot's to do here!

I think that the Gardens closes at 5pm daily, so that probably won't work for you. Too bad, because right now they have their butterfly exhibit.

The B.O.B. is within walking distance of the Amway. You would have to drive to suburbia to see the Gardens.

You might want to see if there is anything going on at the VanAndel Arena. You could walk there as well.
