Hecky's barbecue

Ok. I am a sucker for new BBQ...combined with a listing in the Trib Cheap Eats and it's going to happen.

so I went with another FT'er.

Other Ft'er said chicken was cold.

BBQ was ok. Sauce was TANGY.

Would I'd eat it again? Well yeah, but I wouldn't go out of my way.

Different league of course but Twin anchors much better. so say we all

Hecky's is located at the corner of Division and Halsted.

oh and heard Fast Willie has been there too....

Division and Halsted!? You have to come up to E-Town for the original Hecky's on Green Bay Road.

Hmm, maybe I will stop there tonight...

I spent nine years going to school and then working in Evanston. Hecky's is an interesting place. I'm not that fond of their ribs, but their links are excellent, and when I'm in the mood their rib tips aren't half bad. Hecky himself is a legend in Evanston, he spends a lot of time and money in the community.

Of course, it's absolutely amazing to me that anything is at Division and Halsted. When I was at Northwestern I'd lead a driving orientation tour of the the downtown sights for the new foreign students in our program each September. I'd come eastbound over the Ogden Ave. bridge (now closed) and point out the buildings on the right and explain that if they ever see these buildings again that they should turn around and go back the way from which they came! Now, there's a Starbucks at Clybourn and Division, for chrissakes...

I may have to stop at that location the next time I drive into the office (well, the next time after Monday night's dinner at Phoenix, that is...) and pick up a half dozen hot links for the freezer.

You'll love the Chicago Style Combo then. Tips and Links. Mmmm. Too bad I already ate lunch

Hecky was elected to the school board (the elementary district) a couple of years back. Used the slogan "It's the kids" (for those that don't know, the store's slogan is "It's the sauce"). Really nice guy.

yes I have and your description about Hecky's is right on IMO, if I'm in the area and have been jonesen for some BBQ, I would go, but I would not go out of my way for it.

I don't care what Twin Anchors states, their ribs are boiled at some point, I'm not a fan. Head southside for ribs.
