The Negro League Café

Filled with artwork and memorabilia honoring the eponymous baseball league that pre-dated the sport's desegregation in the '40s, this Far South Side entry has safely slid into a Bronzeville home, pitching a nightly Southern-soul food buffet, plus burgers, sandwiches, a variety of wing preparations and a few entrees (e.g. jerked rib-eye with collard greens); N.B. live jazz Friday and Saturday nights.

My husband ate here with Chicago friends in mid-October. He said the food was lower quality than a Dennys and expensive.

OUCH!

I’m just the messenger.

Was the memorabilia worthwhile?

Not to worry, he went there because local friends chose it. He says he didn't spend much time seeing the memorabilia as he was visiting with them.
