The Negro League Café
Filled with artwork and memorabilia honoring the eponymous baseball league that pre-dated the sport's desegregation in the '40s, this Far South Side entry has safely slid into a Bronzeville home, pitching a nightly Southern-soul food buffet, plus burgers, sandwiches, a variety of wing preparations and a few entrees (e.g. jerked rib-eye with collard greens); N.B. live jazz Friday and Saturday nights.
The Negro League Café City South 301 E. 43rd St. (Prairie Ave.), Chicago, IL 60653 773-536-7000 |
My husband ate here with Chicago friends in mid-October. He said the food was lower quality than a Dennys and expensive.
