Q101 Block Party
nights of Aug. 13 and Aug. 14 for the Q101 BLOCK PARTY. Held at The New City YMCA, the two-day alternative rock festival will feature bands sure to bring your musical taste into the 21st century, including Presidents of the U.S.A., right, on Friday night and Modest Mouse — hailed as the next Nirvana — on Saturday. Gates open at 5:30 p.m. each night. Advance tickets are $10 for one day; $15 for both days. If you buy the day-of, tickets are $15 each. Concert-goers over 30 may want to bring earplugs; coolers are not allowed.

Highly recommended. Went last night. An easy walk from the north/clyborn el stop. Suprisingly non-gouging prices on food and beer (I consider $4 for a cup of beer at an outside venue fair). Bands today are excellent from top to bottom. They've already sold over 6000 tickets to tonights show so get there early; its going to be crowded.
