DTW Water Feature

Though the water feature is not new and I've seen it dozens of times, I must say how much I enjoy it as a part of a connection thru DTW and watching how other passengers interact with the water feature. It's so very inviting, almost everyone that sees it for the first time, goes right up to it and touches it. Anyone else know of a similar water feature? Any good stories people have centered around the fountain?

It's a great touch to the terminal.

Well this and the cool tunnel with the lights are just some of the reasons that makes DTW an enjoyable place to kill some time (when you don't have a WC membership).

It reminds me of one that we saw many times in Disney World. This was back in the mid to late 70's so I don't know if they still have it. BUt it was a hit there, too, and every time I see it in DTW I am reminded of it. It is a really nice feature.

I too like the water feature (it's among my favorite fountains anywhere) and the tram, but the tunnel design is suspiciously similar to United's 15 year old ORD tunnel.

And what's up with the moving-walkway disparity? Two go to terminal A, but only one to B/C. I assume this is because the flow to B/C is fairly steady, while the flow back comes in bursts (as planes arrive), but it strikes me as weird every time I get stuck behind a group who doesn't understand "walk left, stand right."

I saw placard type sign in front of the fountain last year that announced the coins collected from the fountain go to local Detroit area charities.

Denver airport

The DEN airport also has nice water feature. Out of all the airports I've been to Den is my favorite.
