I agree with you.
The St. Louis Zoo - while nowhere NEAR as good (read:big) as Omaha or San Diego - is a decent Zoo IF you don't want to spend all day visiting every exhibit. You can pretty much see everything they have in 2, 3 hours tops.
It's like comparing a local Museum to the Smithsonian - I think it was reported that if you spend one minute looking at each exhibit at the Smithsonian that you would have to spend 8 hours a day there for two years to see everything in all the different buildings - and that includes all the things they do not have on active display.
ANY Zoo is a good Zoo if it helps the preservation of animals.
