Lincoln, Nebraska Eats
Good eats in Lincoln, Nebraska from a former resident of 26 years:
Valentinos - yes it is pizza, but it is the best pizza you'll ever have. It is family owned and operated though it has grown large in the region recently. Go to either the one at 70th and Van Dorn, by the East Campus on Holdrege, the one downtown, or the one out South on 27th and Highway 2. Excellent food.
Lazlo's - I can't even begin to talk about this place. The food is fabulous, and their beers are incredible as well. Start with one of their beers and an order of nachos. These aren't some bar version w/ Tostitos and Velveeta...they are huge and awesome. My favorite sandwich is the pub club. Excellent with fries. Make sure you get enough honey mustard to dip the fries in it as well...it is homemade and awesome. If you have a bad experience (happened to me once), tell them. They will make it right. The owners usually roam around asking how everything is. The original is in the Haymarket, and there is now one out south on Old Cheney and Highway 2. They also own Jabrisco which is right next door to the one in the Haymarket. Very good Italian food.
Garden Cafe - tough to describe the type of food here. My favorite is their potato casseroles with broc, ham and cheese...excellent. They have an incredible bakery as well and a ton (lots and lots) of pies and cakes. They are at 70th and A streets.
I'll add more as I remember them.

All good recommendations. And, FWIW, I used to wait tables at the Garden Cafe.
Anyhoo, another great place is Yia Yia's, at about 14th and O streets. It's gourmet pizza or so, made to order by the slice, and each slice comes with a piece of very good bread, too. The place also is a bar, with plenty of selection of beers and has some pool tables in the back. This place is way too cool for Lincoln, but it works.
And when it comes to fast food, anyone who visits Nebraska should go to Runza and order a Runza -- ground beef and cabbage baked inside of bread -- or any of the Runza varieties. They have really good hamburgers, too.
I also will add more if they come to mind.

Not an eatery, but Rogue's Lounge in downtown Lincoln is a great lounge. A few couches, eclectic beers and atmosphere, and some nice cigars.
