Fly into CLE or CAK?

Fly into CLE or CAK?
I'm headed to a destination north of Akron, about equidistant between CLE and CAK and can fly into either (on DL). Any guidance as to which airport is the easiest for rental car pick-up and return? Would you opt for Hertz or Thrifty or ?

All things equal, I'd pick CAK. CAK is on-site rental and CLE is an off-site shuttle. A smaller airport is faster in and out as well.

CLE is a nice enough airport in my opinion so if the schedule works out better I don't think it's a bad choice. But CAK is likely a notch more convenient.

My previous employer was Avis all the way and so I still use them.

CAK - no question.

The CLE rental car set-up completely sucks.

Thanks for the warnings. Looks like my hosts will come and pick me up, so I can avoid renting a car.
