No we are not really religious, but we certainly can check out some churches. If its not
too cold we might go for a stroll down N Michigan Ave, I think i read some other forums
that said there are horse and carriage rides available, Does anyone know if they run
on Xmas day..

We might try and find a nice restaurant for lunch and then check out some movies late
afternoon..

We do have a car.. Would anyone suggest a day trip ? say a 2 hour drive to a small town
e.g. Lake Geneva ?..
Here is some carriage ride information. A quick look didn't give me any information on Christmas Day, but perhaps you can do some research and make a reservation well in advance.

I would think this ride and/or a walk on Michigan Ave. would be a highlight of any holiday trip to Chicago.

I just did a quick check on OpenTable for lunchtime reservations on Christmas day and got back 64 results with a wide variety of options.

Theater

If you like theater that is a bit off beat, I highly recommend Burning Bluebeard at Theater Wit. It was a big hit in town two years ago.....and it is a Christmas show (sort of), and a comedy, and poignant, about an actual Chicago tragedy. I went two years ago and was really hoping they would restage it--and they have with the original cast.

Hard to describe but if you can handle a bit off beat, it's great!
