Harold's Fried Chicken

Anyone tried this place? Somehow this well known chicken shack went under my radar.

Quality varies greatly from location to location. Take a lipitor - or several - before your visit, but the chicken can be pretty tasty indeed.

agreed. That said, I haven't been to a Harold's in at least a decade I think, just so many other dining choices to try in Chicagoland.

Agreed. There is a Harold's Chicken Shack in my neighborhood (Hyde Park), but with so many other food choices here and around the city, I haven't felt any desire to go there in years.

It sounds like Harold's would be better on a drinking nite. Don't think this would be very tasty being dead sober.

I had commented about this Herold's in another thread, but I am getting to like the one on Wilson/Broadway.

I do not eat fried chicken often, but every time I go into this one, they have the same special - Chicken Dinner for $3.99 (3 pieces of dark meat, fries, bread and cole slaw). In addition, the person who appears to be running the place is extremely nice. For entertainment, because the chicken is cooked to order and takes 'forever', I wait by the window and pass the time glaring at drug dealers and gang-bangers.

Has anyone been to the one on Washington in the West Loop? I never think of it unless I notice it as I drive past.

I'll PM you, I'd like to give Harold's a try again, as it has been a decade

Nothing but the best here.

Well, a very good, cute bakery/soup/sandwich place opened on Wilson Ave about a year ago. It is small and the menu is very limited, but is a great neighborhood place. I am refering to 'Baker and Nosh' and yelp reviews are good.

BTW, one of their items made a Tribune list of 'must-try-items' (somewhere around #40).

A decade ?? Way too long.

This place is carry-out only: we would have to think of a place to eat. One possibility might be 'halfacre'. They do not serve food and encourage you to bring yours in. Halfacre is in Lincoln Square - about a 5 minute drive.
