Things to do in Kansas at night

Hi All,
I will have a couple of nights in Kansas at the start of March. I will have a couple of clients with me. Could anyone suggest things to do in the evening? The days will be tied up in meetings.

We are staying downtown so if anyone has suggestions for nice places to eat or a few good bars I would be grateful to hear them.

thanks in advance.

Kansas night time activities

I presume you are referring to Kansas City? If so, you can check out the Westport area for bars and KC is certainly quite famous for a variety of Barbeque places. Crown Plaza area is also quite nice as well.

If you are downtown you should check out the Power & Light District which is full of bars and restaurants. For a more upscale feel go to Country Club Plaza which also has restaurants & shopping.

Westport (40th/ Broadway) can get a bit dicey.

Downtown has some nightlife.

Crown Center (near downtown, about 10 blocks due south around 20th and Grand) is an option -- 1970s urban renewal courtesy of the Hall and Pritzker families.

The Plaza (aka Country Club Plaza) is 35 blocks due south of downtown around 47th and Wornall, in the Brush Creek valley. Built in the 1920s it is an established shopping/ entertainment district courtesy of the Nichols family.

P&L district would be choice #1. Plaza #2. Westport #75.

If you want some live jazz music (blues some nights), the Phoenix can help you out. It's on 8th & Central downtown, walkable from most hotels right downtown and P&L. Weekday happy hours 4-7pm are a deal.

There are some riverboat casino's too, if that is what you desire. I don't remember the names, but they have been around for awhile and people know where they are if you ask.

Hi Guys,
Thanks for your advice.
We stayed on Westport, Wouldnt reccommend bit of a dicey area it seemed.
We eat the first night in an area not far from the airport it was fine.
The second night we went to the capital grill. It was fine too, perhaps slightly over priced.
the big 12s were on so we caught a couple of games.
Thanks for your help.

I agree with you on Westport. It used to be a great area back in the 90's when I turned 21. I would not go back there. I have heard too many stories about people being attacked there. The last time I went there was probably about 10 years ago & I didn't feel safe at all.
