This is correct - the CTA even has a term for it, Pass Back.

The only card this doesn't work with is the one where you pay a flat monthly fee, but this won't be an issue to most tourists.

1.5-2 hours. Faster during early part of rush hour especially coming back from suburbs, as #606 run every 10 min in that period.

Starting from Irving/Broadway, where the #80 starts from. It does not take too much longer than driving, as basically my route is similiar to those who drive, and you would have bad traffic when coming back jam pack right after rosemont toll plaza, whereas the blue line would speed thru.

Especially now since 1 day, 3 days, and 7 days pass are not good with Pace anymore. If a person time with the Pace bus schedule, it is actually cheaper to use Chicago card/Transit card than those passes.

Not related to your question, but if you pay cash in a bus, it is $2.25 and no transfer, only chicago card and CTA transit card charge $2.00.

I really do not know the answer - however if you start on a CTA bus, the charge is $2.00,($2.25 if starting on a train) then $.25 for the first transfer and no charge for the second transfer.

I rarely take PACE, but it seems as if you are starting on PACE and maybe others can help. PACE buses do not run too frequent and you may even be hard pressed to do 2 transfers on PACE within the time period.

You should know however, you really do not buy a transfer. You just get on the second bus within 2 hours and $.25 is deducted from your card. For the second transfer, you still insert your card (you have another half hour) and it reads $.00 charge.
I don't know my way around this area, I guess I'm scared of getting lost above all else. I suppose I should get a Chicago Card or whatever it's called, or something that will work on CTA/PACE/L so I don't have to worry about transfers and such.

The good thing about Chicago is that everyone is very friendly. I live just south of the loop and encounter lost tourists almost every day. Whenever I see somone on my corner with a map in their hand I say "can I help you find something", I've met people from all over the world that way. My favorite group were the Germans who knew enough English to say "beer, just beer". I walked them half a block to the nearest corner bar and they went in as happy as clams.

If you get on a bus and look the least little bit lost you'll have more people giving you advise than you'll know what to do with.

You don't need a Chicago Card, just get a fare card at any L station.

If you are a visitor or one who doesn't ride often, just get a transit card as Chicago Card cost $5 each with no value in it, and the $5 is non-refundable.
