finally something to discuss! we need to get this board going.

new Midwest / Midwest Connect service

my .02...

its all about connectivity. the new service will definitely bring that. YX needs to market themselves to people who want to go from, say, Boston to Denver (not just to and from MKE). Now that the last DC-9 is retired, every 717 that comes online will be growing the fleet. hopefully we will see more of this to come!

Still nothing west out of MCI and no additions west out of MKE. In fact, no new markets at all.

I hope this approach is financially correct.

I just looked at the route map, and the following routes jumped out at me:

MCI---MSY

MCI---SFO

MCI---FLL

MKE---SNA

I haven't seen mention of these in the forum thus far, but I was surprised especially by the SNA route.

actually, they have flown MCI-SNA for a while now, twice daily. They are dropping the service to once daily and the spare aircraft are being used to start up the FLL and MSY routes, which are newer.

didnt they servce MSY as recently as a couple of years ago? i think so.

MCI will continue to be the focal point of future expansion for Midwest as far as new destinations are concerned...they have pretty much done all they can with MKE.

They did fly to MSY, and I'm glad it's back - New Orleans is my favoite "Long weekend" destination in the lower 48

As far as MKE goes, I still think they could benfit by expanding their connecting service to some of the smaller markets in IA and IL like DBQ and SPI

Does anyone know how many more 717's YX is scheduled to take delivery of?

Remember Access Air?? Transcons via minihubs in MLI, DSM and PIA?? Didn't quite work....

I'm surprised they're doing routes like MSI--MSY and SNA-- like dancing with the devil if you asked me. Someplace like DEN, CLT or DFW would be off the WN radar.

At the same time, YX has, IMO, downgraded its service to LAX. The Sunday evening MKE-LAX is gone in favor of a morning flight. If you want to spend a full weekend in either MKE or LAX, it's like YX is asking you to fly NW. That's just what I've done...
