1 May in Jerusalem

Could there be any problems (demonstartions, strikes, etc) in Israel and Jerusalem in particular on 1 May? Someone mentioned this and this is the exact weekend my family is planning to visit Jerusalem while on vacation in Jordan.

You're not being fair to the OP
Yom Ha'atzmaut, Israeli Independence Day is tomorrow, Tuesday the 29th. Whether that will affect the weekend I can't say for sure, but most likely yes.
Enjoy Israel

I disagree.... This weekend will have no hangover whatsoever from Israeli Independence Day or Memorial Day. In fact as soon as Independence Day is over most Israelis finally get back into serious mode after almost a month of chaos since the beginning of Passover

OK. I have no experience, it was just speculation.

Thanks for the info. And I guess there is nothing to mark May Day that could disrupt travel? Either from Israeli or Palestinian communities?

I have started to make travel arrangements anyway.

What a bunch of foreigners.

Yes, Israel does have May Day "festivities".

There are demonstrations, mostly in the Arab sections, and are labor, not politically motivated. You might also see a parade in some of the main cities. As a tourist you might not.

I always get a kick out of the red flags with the hammer and sickles.

Your family should expect nothing out of the ordinary.

They all are supposed to work on May 1st. This year some will be closed because it's a Friday and not because it's May 1st.

By the way, this is not a recent change. Try mid-90s ...
