When I went there was no fee for the Visa. It was given upon arrival at immigration. It has a 60 day max.
You should be fine, but check with your local state department and they will tell you for sure.

Many countries get visa on arrival for free. For many others, Emirates Airline will arrange for you to get a visa on arrival if you fly them.

My brother and I went to Dubai on december the 26 and didnt need a visa. We are EU citizens. Also, the visa isued (if you can call it visa) was a common stamp that didnt cost.
So as I know, Visa cost is $0 and can be issued on arrival. What citizenchip do you have?
Went to the Atlantis at the Palm and enjoyed the Kaleydoscope buffette brunch.

Forgot the post, use the Delta link and you will know if you can get a visa issued on arrival for free or if you need to get one before traveling. This tool lets you know visa requirements for all countries.

UAE visas no longer easy
EK no longer helps with visas. It now goes through a somewhat modified process.
Simply stating, if you are not going to be sponsored by a UAE resident, you must stay in a hotel and go via a package/tourism company. You cannot visit UAE legally otherwise anymore (staying with friends or family, but just using an EK-sponsored visa without having to involve the UAE person).

In that case you probably need a visa. My experience is that the hotel will usually do it for a fee.
Anyway as always you should check directly with the country to which you are travelling and do not trust information from forums or third parties.
