Dubai in August
Hey, I'm going to Dubai in August.
Can anyone recommend any good hotels that would be close to malls, attractions etc? I'm looking to spend less than $100 a night on a room.
Thanks,
Paul

Plenty of good hotels in Dubai, but finding one for less than $100/ night may be problematic. Try using expedia... I'm searching for a random weekend in August, and (surprisingly) seeing some sub-$100 hits, but they are in the old part of town, which can be confusing, and (depending on traffic) a ways away from the touristy malls and attractions. If you want to stay in new Dubai, near the beach (which is what I'd recommend), it will be closer to $200/ night.

I've been looking up places today. La Meridian and Metropolitan Palace Hotel seem nice and just over $100 a night. Trouble is that Google Maps don't let me search Dubai that well. Anyone know of where to find a good map of the place?

Le Meridien is right near the airport, not too close to most of the touristy stuff, though it's closer to Creek. The Metropolitan is along Sheikh Zayed Road, but I wouldn't recommend it. $100/night even in August will likely be tough if you want more "prime" properties. Your best bet price-wise is in Bur Dubai (check out the 4 Points or Dar Al Sondos managed by Le Meridien), but traffic can be really bad. You can sometimes find great deals in the $200/night range at the Grosvenor House or Mina Seyahi at the Marina, which are both excellent hotels. Good luck.

4 Star Novotel, non-Refundable rate is $96 a night but to that you have to add $18 Taxes and Service Charges. Free Airport, Mall and Beach Shuttles.

as you look for the best deal on a hotel, remember location. some hotels in dubai are a good twenty minute cab ride from the main sites. adding 20-30 usd a day in taxi fares is not unheard of (especially in august, when you can only do so much walking in the heat).

Sub $100 will be tough. Try the Ibis (near the World Trade Center), the LandMark Plaza (On Nasr/Beniyas Sq), the Al Khaleej (not the Al Khaleej Palace)... also on the same square.
None of these are walking distance to malls, the but the latter two are well located in the old city.
