Visa for Egypt?

Am told that one can get a tourist visa for Egypt at the airport rather than doing so in advance through the embassy. We will be arriving at the Cairo airport vdry very early in the AM. Any reason to worry about not being able to get a visa at that time? Does anyone have experience with getting visa when entering the country and not before?

I understand that people get visas at all times of the day, no issues there.

Getting a Visa in Egypt is a very simple procedure. Basically when you get off the plane and prior to getting to immigration you will see a series of money changers. Go to any money changer, pay the required fee and you will get the stamp to place in your passport. Then proceed to immigration.

Don't waste your time with embassy. Like others have mentioned it is no big deal. In fact if you are using a travel agent, they will come and meet you with the visa stamp right at the gate before you go to the immigration counter.

With apologies for the Bump

Am going to Cairo in a couple of weeks as a tourist and would like to check that as a British citizen, it is still possible/easy to pick up a tourist visa on arrival. The Embassy web page is very unclear on this or on the process involved.

Thanks for any assistance/information

Unless things have changed recently -- visas available 24 hrs a day.

yes, just have your cash ready - go first to the fx counter to buy the stamp and then stick it your passport while you wait in the immigration queue.

If you're an American citizen traveling on your US passport, then no, it's not a problem to get a visa at the airport. But some nationalities cannot do this -- I'd check with your local ARE consulate.

What about Polish passport? I would assume being with the EU, it shouldn't be an issue.
And is there a max stay limit? I'll be there for about 2 1/2 weeks.

And what is the current treatment for US vs EU citizens? I would assume it would be better if I used my Polish passport everywhere instead of my US one...

jason8612,
check this link http://www.mfa.gov.eg/MFA_Portal/en-...d+Regulations/

There are a few countries that need a visa upfront, every one else requires to have some money and some "space" in the passport.

The price of the visa is not entirely transparent. Unless things have changed, there's nothing like a price-list at the exchange counter. Does anyone have the current GBP/USD/EUR charge?

In any case, I think those are the fees for visas arranged through the embassy/consulate.
