The last time I traveled in Israel & Jordan (a year and a half ago), USDs were readily accepted and I didn't have to bother with the exchange.
Is this still true for those countries, and including Egypt?

Oh, in Egypt they'll take your USD, but you'll pay more! They especially ask for British Pounds, too.
It's so easy to just go to the exchange desk at your hotel and get Egyptian pounds. I like looking at foreign money, too.
