Rooms in Jerusalem
Have the recently escalating tensions in Israel caused more people from Northern Israel to head southward and stay in hotel rooms? They've been quite expensive in Jerusalem of late, from my experience.
For example, I have been seeking an inexpensive room to rent, either in a hotel/hostel/personal home from Aug9-14. No luck so far through the usual channels, best price I've found was $47.50 per night. Does anyone have a recommendation?

I just returned from Israel. Fortunately, I had used points for all my rooms - but even the hotel in Eilat (usually offering big discounts and promos this time of year) emailed me a few days prior to arrival to confirm I'd be showing up. It was very crowded down there. Jerusalem and Tel Aviv were busy but I can't say "oversold". It seemed like there were a lot of Israelis at tourist attractions in both places. Under US$50 a night sounds like a deal, as even prior to this mess, a standard business-style hotel in Jerusalem was over $200/nt.

less than 50 USD is quit a good price IMHO. I recieved an email with promotional last-minute rates for the Dan Eilat for this week, so I guess people started to leave back to their homes to to relatives and left the hotels. It makes sense after all - most cannot afford staying in hotels for a long period of time.
