I have a long layover in Cairo airport and I want to take advantage of the time for a quick visit to the pyramids. I understand the traffic issues. But I've been told I need to get back to the airport 2-3 hours before departure. I'm wondering if that's really true in my case since: a) It's a connecting flight so I won't need to check in for the flight. b) My bags are checked to my final destination so I won't need to pick up or check my bags, c) I'm in Business Class.
If you are already checked in and you aren't messing with bags, the only things I can think of that might slow you down are outgoing customs and security. Is it really going to take 2-3 hours for that? If so, what if I hire one of those meet-and-greet services to expedite me through security?
