Long layover in Doha
I’ve got a BA flight arriving into Doha at midnight and I’m not travelling out on a Qatar Airways flight until 8pm that evening. It’s on the 14th Nov so
because of the World Cup there is zero hotel availability.
Because the flights are separate bookings I presumably need to pass through immigration as I’ll need to collect my bags, so can’t use the sleep pods airside. I also assume I won’t be allowed to check back in again because my flight is 20 hours away. From the Qatar website it looks like there maybe a departure lounge before security that I could maybe try and use but again with the amount of time involved that may not be possible.
Any ideas if I have any options other than pitching a tent in the terminal building?
Both my flights are in club.
Thanks

You can decide to go for a capsule hotel at the Hamad International Airport, or buy access to one of the lounges.
Also bear in mind that FIFA starts around 21 November, at the moment there's not much available and/or the prices are high, but re-check in a month or so - hotels should be bookable at a decent price. You can check out Hampton by Hilton Doha Old Town, it's one of the Hilton's focused service hotels, with reasonable pricing; if you stay in the city, you'd get to see a bit of Doha too!

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately the pods and the lounges are airside and because I need to pickup my luggage and presumably wouldn’t be able to check back in to my next flight since it’s so far away, I don’t have any of those options.
Ill keep my eyes on hotels prices :-)

Just want to make sure you are aware that from November 1st, you will need a Hayya Card to enter Qatar, for which you will need World Cup tickets? If you need to collect your baggage, enter Qatar, and then check in again, this might be a non-runner.

I had absolutely no idea. I checked entry requirements on the U.K. government website and it mentions nothing of this. I’ve got lots of accommodation and flights booked that would cost a lot of money to change. I’ve read that they will open up the application to non ticket holders at some point, I can only hope this happens :-)

Yeah, as it stands, you will need a Hayya card from November 1st to January 23rd apparently, but there has been some indication that they will have some facility for non-ticket holders to enter the country. As always in Qatar, they will probably wait until the last second to announce it.

That’s confused me a little bit about how exactly that process would work but can only assume I’d need to provide evidence of my onward journey?
